Health Center

Since 2002, the Health Center has been providing comprehensive, culturally sensitive, strength-basedand affordable outpatient services to the community. Through its community mental Health Center, RCS provides office, in-home outpatient therapy and intensive outpatient therapy for referred clients. Licensed and Licensed-waivered Marriage and Family Therapists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Licensed Clinical Psychologists provide therapy.

This can include individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy and psychological assessment. In collaboration with the Gilroy Unified School District, RCS offers bilingual behavioral health care to Gilroy school children including psychiatric consultation, treatment, and referral for specialized services such as alcohol and other drug treatment.
The Health Center also works with specialized populations from prenatal to 6 years of age and medium-risk probation youth.

Treatment Models offered through the Health Center are:

School-Based Preventative Mental Health Services
Treatment model: Individual assessment and screening, group work, and crisis intervention services are provided to students on the local Gilroy campuses and at RCS. Services are individualized and focus on maintaining the most appropriate environment at the highest level of normalization for students. Faculty training, guidance, and consultation, as well as, parent education are also part of outreach services. This is a partnership with RCS’ Prevention & Education Program.

Outpatient Intensive Mental Health Services
Treatment model: Integrated outpatient psychotherapy, rehabilitation, and case management services are provided in a variety of settings, including RCS, home, school, and general community. Services are individualized, strength-based, and take into consideration the person’s age, developmental level, culture, and family values. Medication support is available.

First 5: Therapeutic Services
Treatment model: Integrated outpatient psychotherapy and in-home parent-child stabilization services are provided in a variety of settings, including RCS, home, preschool, and general community to children, prenatal to 5 years, and their families. Services are individualized, strength-based, and take into consideration early childhood developmental level, special medical or learning needs, culture, and family values. Medication support is available.

Youth Empowered for Success (YES) / Support & Enhancement Services
Treatment model: Since 2007, under a newly-funded grant through Juvenile Probation and in collaboration with Catholic Charities, intensive service case managers provide weekly home and/or school visits, individual and group coaching / counseling sessions, Individual Service Plans, and Wraparound support to newly-identified South County youth within the juvenile justice system
