9:30 a.m. to noon: Frank Carbajal, author of Building the Latino Future:
Success Stories for the Next Generation. Mr. Carbajal will share stories in his book as to how to succeed despite the odds including:
Focusing on specific goals and develop a plan to achieve them
Making sure you get the education you need to succeed
Taking advantage of the support available in your community
Putting all of your energy into achieving your goal
Bouncing back after disappointments
Finding a unique route to success
Noon to 1:30 p.m.: free lunch and free raffle for prizes
1:30 to 4:00 p.m.: Vanessa Stone of the Amala Foundation. Vanessa is
an internationally known teacher and leader for peace. She is the founder
of a non-profit humanitarian service organization called the Amala
Foundation. The organization works to create a peaceful, equitable and
compassionate world by unifying communities in service, inspiring
youth to lead with a heart-centered global perspective, and living in
recognition that sustainable peace begins within. Vanessa’s talk will focus
on how to see your life circumstances as fuel for evolving into potent
female leaders. Vanessa’s mother is Latina.
